Hacemos en Español
Last year, I was talking with moms whose children had transitioned from dual-language programs to monolingual middle schools. We shared the challenge of maintaining Spanish fluency—something I was also navigating with my own children, who have only one Spanish-speaking parent at home. I had tried a Spanish language class for them, but they found it tedious. The idea of sitting down just to "learn a language" didn’t inspire them.
That’s where the idea for Hacemos was born—a place where young artists can explore a diverse range of projects while immersing themselves in Spanish.
I launched my first session last fall, and it was a success. I loved watching the kids engage with the language organically—when Spanish wasn’t the focus but simply part of the process, they felt free to communicate without pressure to "get it right."
This spring, I’m excited to offer Fundamentals of Drawing and Painting.
In this session, students will explore drawing techniques using charcoal, pencil, and ink, focusing on shading, perspective, line quality, and texture. We’ll also experiment with acrylic and colored ink, introducing a new medium and technique each class. The session culminates in a mixed-media project that ties everything together.
Our next session will start Sunday April 6th and will run for 8 sessions - $360 (excluding Easter Sunday and Mother’s Day). For more information please fill out the form, or register here.
